Man, there's a lot of words for wind... I'm kind of surprised how few Magic has used so far, but I assume the flavor team has the same problem I did. For South Winds alone we have Sirrocco, which comes from North Africa. Khamsin is Egypt. Notus is tied to Greek Mythos. Gibli is a Lybian wind, Friagem blows over Brazil and Kona applies to Hawaii. Of all of them, Auster sounds fine... it's tied to Roman Mythology, but isn't as heavy handed as Notus... but Xeric Auster sounded a bit too much like a Captain America villain for my ears...

Oh, weird... the word 'Southerly' can be used as a noun to mean "Southern Front"? Okay, sure, I'll fly that up the flagpole. It's not like I expect people to know what 'xeric' means, anyway.
