One more take at combining Raise Dead with Teremko Griffin. For reasons mentioned on Headcarving, I really want to make these card spells, and not creatures. That being said, turning the Raise Dead variant into a Gravedigger variant is probably no big deal. It happens all the time, and it stopped me from making bad banding mechanics in black.

I rather like that activated ability. In theory, it's probably white or green... but piling creatures on an already blocked creature seems kind of black, too. I know that activated abilities that influence combat isn't common anymore, but at 6cc, and with an ability that probably won't come up too often, I think we're fine.

Originally, the second ability read:

{t}: ~ blocks target blocked creature.

Which sounds cool. Then I realized that, since this creature flies, and this creature needs to be untapped to do it, it was rarely, rarely going to matter. Added clause about needing to untap... which is kind of weird, because what I really need is {q}. Grr... Maybe I should just revert and remove flying. I'm just not a fan of making a griffin that doesn't naturally fly...

Originally this creature had "{b}{b}: Untap ~. If you do, it blocks target blocked creature." It's cute, but it boggles my mind. Too cute, I guess. I added the +2/+2 and flying line in an attempt to be less cute. Now it's probably too powerful. What's a griffin to do?

I don't know about too powerful, so much as utterly nonblack. This is a Welkin Guide with a Raise Dead on it. I'd say that's more likely to be a white creature than a black one.

Hmm... Gravedigger in White kind of bugs me. Thankfully, though, there's an 'white machine' theme going in white, and if I change creatures to artifacts, we get a rather white looking card. The names a bit off, but I'm not sure what to call a Griffin that dumpster dives and grabs people for aerial attacks just yet.

A seagull?

Heh. We're getting a little further away from Teremko Griffin, but a seagull makes good sense here.

I agree that looks a lot more white. It looks very Time Spiral, actually: Treasure Hunter + Welkin Guide, like Cloudchaser Kestrel was Cloudchaser Eagle + Aurora Griffin.

Is the name meant to be Kukemssa, as in Kukemssa Serpent?

Huh. I never took a good look at that word. Yes, it is.
