You might want to think about the name. At a distance, it looks like "asparagus," and upon closer inspection, it sounds like a reference to pregnancy.

Aw, now I wanna know what it used to be called :)

Apragos, Terra Shaman

Ha! Yes. Wise decision.

I highly approve of the +1, and the personal Mana Flare is a nice idea too. But the -2 seems very weak. It could easily be [-1], almost [0]. Compare Greenweaver Druid or Overgrowth.

That much mana-fixing/acceleration on a single card worries me. On the other hand, Primeval Titan.

on 01 May 2012 by Mollusk:

Ignoring the titan comparison: This is a safe 3 drop (easily accelerated to 2 by mana elves, hard to get faster) and adds 1 the turn you drop it (another mana elf would do as well) and then two further (via the 0) on the next turn, taking you to six on turn four (or three) That's not really unreasonable for green and red. Using this for the emblem is a bit more worrying - you've got a very short window before it goes off, and for all except an "In response" of that it's not boltable. Doing that, you've got to 10 mana in five turns off of only three lands; which potentially makes for some very scary "And now I burn you and you die" fast games.

Still; 10 is more than most decks actually need, and complaining that {g}{r} can get lots of mana is just silly, it does that already. Dunno, conflicted. Of the possible options, I think I'd rather make this more vulnerable (base loyalty 1, with a +2, maybe?) than make it slower to go off if you manage it.
