Legendary Common Equipment. The refugees from Mirrodin would call things like the Eartalkers common... except, now there's only one pair left in existence. Does a good job showing how desperate the situation the refugees are in. Not the only Legendary Common Equipment in the set, hopefully, but probably the only one which allows two on the battlefield.
Also, I need to template this so that one creature walking around with two walkie-talkies doesn't get a bonus... but I'll leave that for later. Lot of words for a common as it is.
Coining a keywords like Duality or something for the Brothers Yamazaki effect would give the illusion of reducing text, if you plan on using this ability multiple times. Also, you could add "...attached to different creatures" for a simple wording fix, right? Anyway, legendary commons just don't feel right.
I might think about 'Duality'. I had only planned to use this once... maybe twice. There may be an excuse for 3 as well, but it doesn't come to me off the top of my head. I suppose, with a card like Relentless Rats you could officially set it to 4 or 5... but I'm not planning on doing that.
Cut the generic +1/+1 and added it to "attached only" (also cut equip to
). At least, with this card, Legendary Common feels necessary to make it do the right thing in a draft. Power level may need to be boosted, though.
So this does nothing unless you have two of them? If that's intentional, the power level needs pumping a lot. I was surprised a bit by the idea of common legends too, but I can see it can be flavourful. Just remember that mechanically, it does nothing except make it blow up sometimes.
Yeah, originally these were equip Leonin Scimitar for
with a bonus for two. Now their nerfed, partially for logic, and partially for brevity, and I'm annoyed. I want these things to stay relevant, but not be too good. They are common equipment after all, and not very exciting unless someone passes them to you in a draft, meaning they should be 7-9 pick.
But an equipment that does nothing when you use it is bad. I need to find a simple execution that screams "Headsets!". Still thinking.
Alright. Removed the clunky 'Legendary, but not if there's two' rule. It's nice, but I got plenty of places to stick that, and this confusing bugger is not a good choice.
Also changed the wording so that now, instead of trying to grant first strike to creatures who this equipment is attached to, if another equipment with the same name happens to be attached to a different creature... yeah... instead of that mouthful, this equipment gives first strike to all the creatures not equipped by it, but by an equipment with the same name. It's a bit of a mind-twist, so I find it funny that it's much easier to parse... plus, that's kind of what walkie-talkies would do. You would give other people first strike by talking to them.
