The cantrip line might push this card over the edge into being too strong, particularly given the nasty effects that certain creatures can have when unblocked. ( Demented Lavaflinger, anyone?) On the other hand, the cantrip ties so well into the flavor of the name that I hesitate to remove it.
"During combat, after blockers have been declared". You can't cast spells during the declare blockers step.
Er? Yes you can:
> 509. Declare Blockers Step
> 509.1. First, the defending player declares blockers.
> ...
> 509.5. Fifth, the active player gets priority. Players may cast spells and activate abilities.
Ah, my apologies. The whole step is called the declare blockers step. I was mostly trying to stop someone from casting a spell druing 509.1, which is impossible.
Though, there's still probably a reason why Wizards does it in the way that I mentioned instead of in the "declare blockers step". I remember having to deal with this issue at a semi-common rate back when I ran tournaments 10 years ago or so. Players would try to interupt other players while they were in the process of declaring their attackers or blockers, which obviously can't happen. It used to give me the headaches. The Headaches!
