Pirate is a supported creature type, even if it isn't used much. However, the whole thing feels like an awkward version of Memnarch. I would be more intrigued if it didn't have the {u} ability, and the {1}{u} ability didn't require that the creature be an artifact.

You're right, it's a bit vexingly close to Memnarch. Which is a real pain; the first ability is how the card connects to the set themes, and I like the idea that you have to give this creature two benefits before you can bribe it over to your side. I guess I must have been subconsciously influenced by Memnarch without any conscious awareness of it, because it's too close to print, really. Needs redoing somehow.
