Oh! That's a sneaky and interesting synergy. If you exile things that happen to have portal; I think you can cast their exile half immediately without first casting their (usually more expensive) front half.
That makes impulse card-draw VERY enticing. sure, the comprules could make it cleaer that there's an elided 'this way' in the portal reminder text; but please don't do that. I like this sneakiness, and having portal on such a card is a nice way to clue people in that it's posisble.
As an effect itself... Eh, impulse draw followed by a ball lightning. Seems fine.
Yes I am looking out for synergies of that sort, and definitely also seeing some bounce and double-transform sort of ideas popping out.
More explicitly, the 2nd side is kind of like Hellspark Elemental, but instead of going to your graveyard and having Unearth it returns to your hand as an instant again to start the cycle over.
The fact that its a reoccurring card is kind of nice in its way.
Ethereal Jaunt and Ethereal Reversal also do this reoccuring self-bounce thing, in a less whimsical way. This is sort of the red version of that.
