Does the flavour come through? The idea is, you're refreshed but exhausted, even though you'll use "tap" on an opponent's creature and "gain life" on yourself.
I made this because I wanted to tack life gain onto a fairly marginal tempo effect to make it worthwhile.
See Chaga, Chief Enforcer
Originally this just made three tokens, but I thought it was better a creature so you can use 2/2 vanilla tokens and use this as a reminder.
Alternatively, it could grant the bonus to all rhox.
Not sure if this should be return to battlefield, but I want to avoid infinite loops with two of them.
Obviously this treads on the territory of black's recurring creatures, but I think it's more ok for green to have a chump blocker than black, and you always need something more to make it repeatable. Two can repeat, but only normally once per turn, and only if you're careful not to break the chain.
Also soliciting any cool ideas for rares and mythics, or links to other wild-west magic cards. (I've already seen Daniel William's GDS 2 entries.)
Is this sensible for red?
It seems obvious, red has lots of cheap "when blah, x damage" creatures, but this seems simpler -- never having to decide what to do the damage to, or when to try to trigger it, and not a repeatable trigger, but just helping chip away at the opponent's life total.
I can change the amount of damage if necessary.
For the one shot that really matters.
I like the idea that there's equipment even cheaper than bone saw.
Note for pedants: apparently (I'm not making it up, I don't like it either) "Deringer" is the original brand of the genericised "Derringer", both meaning a small easily-concealable palm-sized pistol, originally carrying only one bullet.
1/1 intimidate seems appropriate for red.
Can anyone think of a better name, that conveys the "don't mess with me, I've got nothing to lose" attitude of doc holiday without stigmatising mental illnesses?
Situational haste on a 2/1 seems right. Sorry, Goblin Piker.
Haste, move to uncommon
I want another mechanical theme that fits the future-wild-west theme or other aspects of the setting (see World details page).
Any suggestions?
I don't like that this is basically "can't attack or block" disguised. But this fits the flavour a lot better.
It should also be a sorcery instead of an enchantment, but an enchantment a) fits the flavour better and b) shuts down creatures with orbital while still leaving them around for abilities and orbital weapon spells.
I struggled for ages to come up with a high-tech concept for green to destroy fliers, until I realised this was fairly good. I could only think about the ridiculous scene in the film of Starship Troopers where the giant bug farts a fireball into space to shoot at another planet :)
It needs a snappier name though, any suggestions?
