Recent updates to Soradyne Laboratories v1.2: (Generated at 2025-08-18 18:39:36)
This is something to keep an eye on. The way I'm reading it, it'll keep triggering until you get 3 cards that aren't lands.
Mind Funeral hits, on average for me, about 13 cards. Did unscientific test against two decks and it was averaging 18 cards. So 1) I am reading the card wrong or 2) it needs to be restrained.
First, the name of this card isn't appropriate to what it does. Information comes in the form of the library and this card doesn't interact with that at all. It could be redone to say:
"Whenever a spell is cast during combat, put an awareness counter on FoI. At the beginning of your upkeep, scry x, where x= the number of counters on FoI."
Not extremely white but it does interact with information. Still, how to link a combat trick with information, OR combat trick with life.
I'll have to come back to it, brain isn't helping me right now.
The flavor text, if applicable, should definitely be "Information wants to be free." Very old reference but still...
As much as I like the current idea, I had a notion of an 'Employer' or 'Head of Department'.
1, tap two Wizards you control: draw a card. At the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, untap all Wizards you control.
My thinking here is that as head of Soradyne Research, she's going to be able to use the minions out there to gather more information as well as inspire them to go further.
Houlding's version seems ugly and unpleasant in this respect: if it does what I think it does, you're stealing the opponent's draw. That is the kind of card that will create a hell of a lot of ill will as there are few things as maddening as not being able to play your own deck.
Having had that happen to me-repeatedly- I can tell you: it's aggravating beyond words.
Fair enough. I certainly don't think it makes him busted or anything.
Pro-black? Partly because it does make him such a beast, partly for flavor, and partly because I don't actually think his counter-pooping ability gets all that strong all that fast. Yes, it can get big, but it takes a reasonable amount of planning and/or luck to line up combat spells and be dropping other critters. Feint creatures help, but they require a dude to get through the opponent's defenses. Back to pro-black, which can help that cause.
I like the flavor text suggestion.
Is there a particular reason for Pro Black? This seems plenty strong without protection from one of the primary schools of removal.
RE: Flavor Text - Considering this is the Bureau Chief, and he's performing an action that benefits himself and others, it might be nice to phrase it as an inclusive action, like:
"We'll deliver a truth too strong to twist."
In case it's not clear, Vitenka is referring to Scout's Warning, which was the creature-casting version of Quicken.
There's already "The next spell has flash" so yeah, no reason why not to allow it UEOT.
Frankly, I am kind of amazed this card doesn’t exist already. There could be a reason, but I just don’t see it.
Okay, I pulled this back to one-and-one on the costs. The more I look at it, the less I have any idea of why I'd costed it at twos in the first place.
Right, I'm just trying to say: do a top-down thing here, instead of just Recycle on a dude.
Something ridiculous like:
If an opponent would draw a card, that player reveals the top card of his or her library instead. If it's a nonland card, you may pay

. If you do, you may cast that card without paying its mana cost.
Because, you know, she's so smart that she thinks of everything first. But anyway, you've got crazier ideas on some of your uncommons. This is a poor place to just rock the staple gun.
That's one of those ideas where I read it and went, "that's cool!". Then I thought about it and went, "when was the last time anyone played that blue ley line?".
It sounds good on paper, but really it just makes you play everything just as their turn ends, with Explore tacked on.
Now if it was blended with Arcane Laboratory...
