wrong number, my bad!
Wait, did this duplicate the previous challenge # 091? In which case it should be #092? Or did I miss something?
Joint Air Control based on Windborn Muse
Added Circle of Guilt.
For Challenge # 091. Random generator first gave me Comet Storm. Nothing like getting a bunch of people angry at me for turning a beloved Mythic Rare into a functional repeat, eh? I passed, then passed again on Fact or Fiction. Then Righteous Aura popped up, and we had a winner. Not only does the card have a weak name, and questionable flavor ties to Cho-Manno (I do love the Visions art... but I like it for its abstractness), but it's a solid card and isn't even an aura. That card needs a functional reprint.
My first thought was to converted everything that attacked you into some sort of energy that hurt you. Like a Circle of Lightning, that whenever a Giant hits it, it shocks you a little. But lightning, fire, ice and thorns aren't white's domain, and being stabbed by light wasn't going to translate well. Luckily, I came across guilt. Enough guilt will kill a person? Yeah, I can buy that.
Oui
Presumably created for Challenge # 091 based on Mind Control.
Yep, that's a great choice. On its own, Grave Exchange was technically card advantage, but looked pretty horrible at 6 mana given it was Disentomb + Cruel Edict.
But now, with a decent body attached, it's a pretty impressive 3-for-1. I could see this having some kind of Nicol Bolas flavour, because the effect here reminds me of Cruel Ultimatum.
The ability, Legendary supertype, colours and name all come together very well here.
Thank you!
Ooh, very nice. It might need tweaking, it might be hard to use it if you don't have many oozes left, but the life gain at least gives you a cushion of time. And I love the name.
@jmg: Well, Norin might reach level 2 slowly, but a lot more quickly than most bold adventurers, who reach level 2 never :)
You know, that's a pretty good stab for a Mythic land. The bonus ability is useful, but is more for a casual crowd... the choice to use this in a tournmaent environment is arguable. In White-Blue, it would probably be a gimmie, but seems fine in White-Red.
I think you could just stick with
or
so as not to invalidate the Odyssey rare land cycle... but those lands are kind of low power, so you could convince me otherwise. Legendary helps solve the difference, in theory.
I'm a big fan. It's a pity, though... I would love to pair it with Wall of Caltrops for flavor text reasons alone, but the two cards aren't very synergistic. Not that that's stopped me in the past, mind you...
Good old Norin. It must take him forever to level up. ;)
Thanks! I liked the idea of an ooze lord.
I had, and still have, a lot of potential ideas for this card. One is to give it p/t equal to the number of Oozes on the battlefield. If I did that, though, I might want to drop that second ability, and I quite like how that turned out.
Grave Exchange became Grave Usurer.
Here's my attempt: Foriys.
