Skyholme is unlike many other planes of existence. Here vast continents float above the inhospitable surface of the plane, home to various cultures and races. The surface is wholly given over to the elements and nature with vast fungal forests wherein lurk fungal lifeforms such as the Thallids and Saprolings; dank, oozing swamps that are where wild thrulls (once a created servitor race) breed in bubbling miasma pits; and desolate rocky badlands home to a seemingly endless horde of Goblins. Brave entrepeneurs from the floating lands sometimes descend to the surface in order to trap thrulls and goblins to be used as common labourers or trained for specific roles deemed too dangerous for a Skydweller.

Meanwhile the various skydweller nations utilise many creatures adapted to life in the sky, such as the dangerous Skysharks or the savagely noble Griffins. All is not well however, the ancient machinery and magics that hold the skyrealms afloat are slowly beginning to fail. Many of the constructs and golems that once maintained these systems have either malfunctioned or simply ground to a halt. None today are aware of what makes their homes ride the skies and the increasing "skyquakes" are the source of much fear as few today understand these systems, let alone are aware of them.

Skyholme (the first set in the Skyholme block) introduces us to the realm as it is today, the second and third blocks will deal with the repercussions of various groups trying to shore up/repair the ancient systems.
