This is overpowered to no easily stated degree. It's outperforming Phyrexian Arena to give a famously balanced example of repeated rare card draw.

I could understand this as a bauble that sacrifices itself, maybe looting or rummaging.

As of the moment of this writing there are eight different Plant creature tokens in this set and each type is created by only a single card:
- Lord of the Rot: 2/2 black Plant creature token with deathtouch
- Malevolent Mass: X/X Plant creature token with deathtouch and lifelink (apparently colorless)
- Rotting Plot: 2/1 black Plant creature token with lifelink
- Bursting Seed: 0/2 Plant defender (apparently colorless)
- Midwife of Rebirth: 2/2 Plant creature token with lifelink (apparently colorless)
- Scavenging Shoots: 1/1 green Plant creature token with vigilance
- The Birthpod: 1/1 black and green Plant creature token with deathtouch and vigilance
- The Rotting Veil: 1/1 black and green Plant creature token with deathtouch
That's a lot of unnecessary diversity that will serve players to mix up their tokens.
