Could work either way actually; a permanent "This copies something, but cannot then change again" or add the "But retains this ability" line to let it shift continually.

Losing the equip3 is probably ok; most equipment has an equip cost.

If this becomes a copy of another equipment, then it will lose the equip 3 and it's transform ability. Unless it's already equipped you'll have to use the new equip cost, and paying 3 for no immediate effect dissuades me a bit. This card functions but I'm not sure if it's what you intend.

Okay, but obviously it's always tied to some CMC limit.

Actually, I have that {x} in there. Maybe subconsciously I was thinking it of "cascading for X"? Ie. "As though a spell with CMC of X was cast." Who knows :D

That would likely be broken with lower mana costs though, right? On the other hand, the casting cost is already pretty harsh and it would require {r} {g} to activate in addition to that... So... maybe?

Ooh, otoh I run Grinning Ignus in my Yidris deck and it effectively reads " {r} : Cascade." That's basically what you want.

I don't think cascade works like that. It's a cast trigger. See Treasure Keeper.

It doesn't really feel rare worthy. Stuff like Bloodbraid Elf is much more splashier.

Maybe make it an activated ability like so:

What's {x} ? I don't dare to guess. It's pretty high likely given Etherium-Horn Sorcerer.

I would say {u} {r} {g} would be the slightly more appropriate cost (Maelstrom Wanderer). This is a downgrade from Shardless Agent btw, but that card is bonkers.
