Unsent: When this creature dies, create a colorless Pyreflies enchantment token. Used on 18 cards: Sinscale, Corpse Funguar, Evrae, Bevelle's Guardian, Evrae Altana, Assassin Bee, Demonolith, Whitefur Coeurl, Divebeak, Water Flan, Klikk Hatchling, Bladed Hexopod, Four-Horn Valaha, Aberrant Malboro, Shieldhead Halma, Feral Behemoth, Venom Ragora, Oversoul, Lakeside Tanket

Parasitic mechanic specifically for Spira. Similar to how Soulshift plays. A number of cards will be able to sacrifice a certain number of Pyreflies in order to return to the battlefield/hand. Probably in {g}{b} but it appears in all colors due to how important it is to the set and the world.

Blitz: When this becomes blocked, you may pay PARAM1. If you do, exile it, then return it to the battlefield at the beginning of your next upkeep. It gains haste. Used on 10 cards: Al Bhed Psyche, Fangs Blitzer, Militant Ace, Aurochs Fielder, Aggressive Midfielder, Squad Leader, Kilika Striker, Comeback Star, Rough Player, Promising Rookie

An aggressive combat-related mechanic in {w}{r} to represent blitzball players and surfacing/diving in underwater combat in general. Minor representation in {u}.

*Hymn*: Used on 6 cards: On Valefor's Wings, Fayth's Protection, Sorrowful Dancer, Futile Struggle, Wander the Cloister, Prayer for Mercy

Hymn - Whenever you sacrifice one or more enchantments, [EFFECT].

Yevonite mechanic. Probably in {w}{b} or {w}{g}{u}.

Not even 100% beholden to the name - something to do with the Hymn of the Fayth would be nice though since that's one of the defining features of the religion.

Salvage: PARAM1, Exile this card from your graveyard: Draw a card. Salvage only as a sorcery. Used on 9 cards: Machina Scouter, Dismantle, Blaster Mine, Negaburst Concoction, Machina Plating, YAT-99, Crawler Cannon, Jammer Claw, Disruption Machina

Mana smoothing mechanic attached onto a lot of artifacts and some other cards. Represents the people of Spira repurposing ancient machina for knowledge/their own uses. Al Bhed can make the most out of the mechanic but there are a number of cards that will key off of artifacts or colorless permanents in general. The Salvage archetype is in {u}{r} due to their interaction with artifacts.

Note: This mechanic has been done a lot in custom sets. Thanks to all the creators before who have inspired me using (read: stealing) this mechanic for my personal sets.

In card text or details pages, write the mechanic's code name (playtest name) between square brackets, like "[Crittercast]", "[Bushido 1]" or "[Delay 4 {2}{R}{R}]". It will be expanded to the mechanic's name plus reminder text, such as "Suspend 4 – {2}{r}{r}. (Rather than cast this spell from your hand,...)"
To expand a mechanic's name but not its reminder text, include parentheses at the end of the square brackets: "[Crittercast()]", "[Delay 9 {R}()]".
