Parasitic mechanic specifically for Spira. Similar to how Soulshift plays. A number of cards will be able to sacrifice a certain number of Pyreflies in order to return to the battlefield/hand. Probably in but it appears in all colors due to how important it is to the set and the world.
An aggressive combat-related mechanic in to represent blitzball players and surfacing/diving in underwater combat in general. Minor representation in
.
Hymn - Whenever you sacrifice one or more enchantments, [EFFECT].
Yevonite mechanic. Probably in or
.
Not even 100% beholden to the name - something to do with the Hymn of the Fayth would be nice though since that's one of the defining features of the religion.
Mana smoothing mechanic attached onto a lot of artifacts and some other cards. Represents the people of Spira repurposing ancient machina for knowledge/their own uses. Al Bhed can make the most out of the mechanic but there are a number of cards that will key off of artifacts or colorless permanents in general. The Salvage archetype is in due to their interaction with artifacts.
Note: This mechanic has been done a lot in custom sets. Thanks to all the creators before who have inspired me using (read: stealing) this mechanic for my personal sets.
In card text or details pages, write the mechanic's code name (playtest name) between square brackets, like "[Crittercast]", "[Bushido 1]" or "[Delay 4 {2}{R}{R}]". It will be expanded to the mechanic's name plus reminder text, such as "Suspend 4 – . (Rather than cast this spell from your hand,...)"
To expand a mechanic's name but not its reminder text, include parentheses at the end of the square brackets: "[Crittercast()]", "[Delay 9 {R}()]".
