Lords of Tarkir: UR Jeskai/Ojutai, Wandering Soul

Ojutai, Wandering Soul. Once the Jeskai cloistered themselves in monasteries, withdrawing from the world in order to focus their minds inward - until the coming of Ojutai, the Wandering Soul. A restless, cunning, impulsive leader, Ojutai’s stories about his own quest for wisdom through experience and his attainment of a fluid and creative enlightenment drew away enough of the Jeskai adherents to leave their monasteries abandoned to the winds. Ojutai’s followers treasure tales of tricksters and warriors, and they scorn power and material possessions in favor of surviving by their wits. They travel in search of new experiences and new knowledge, and meeting a wandering Ojutai monk is considered good luck on the road. Dragons of Ojutai’s brood carry news, stories, and oral histories across Tarkir. Ojutai’s followers are also renowned as tinkers and as fighters; some will even hire themselves out as mercenaries, trading their combat skills for the chance to visit new parts of Tarkir, and Ojutai mercenaries can be found fighting in service of the Unending Kingdoms or the Glorious Horde.

The new Ojutai seek the perfect moment - a state of zen existence achieved when one is fully attuned to the present, a stillness and fluidity in thought and action. Monks of Ojutai’s order will sometimes travel together in small bands and learn from each other, but each pursues enlightenment in their own way. Ojutai himself still wanders Tarkir, telling tales of the Khanfall and the ascendance of the dragons, going from village to village and leaving each time with new adherents.

Narset, Traveler Returning: Greatest student and traveling companion of the Wandering Soul, Narset has spent the past few decades accompanying Ojutai on his journeys through Tarkir. Narset left her home in a small city to follow Ojutai at a young age and has grown under the dragon’s tutelage into a formidable intellect and teacher in her own right. A few years ago Narset finally left Ojutai’s side and struck out on her own. Of late she has not been seen often, and rumor has it that in her enlightenment she has found a way to travel beyond Tarkir entirely.

Trickster's Fire: The campsite of the wandering UR Ojutai, sometimes appearing to wanderers on distant roads. A clever traveler might win the dragonlord’s favor with an enthralling tale or a cunning bargain - but a foolish one might find themselves cursed for their unseemingly actions.
