Akoum Firebird/Ashcloud Phoenix/Firewing Phoenix/Furnance Welp/Roc of Kher Ridges/Skyship Stalker/Thunderbreak Regent/Worldheart Phoenix
Red gets 1CC 2/2 Flying Pheonixes with self reanimation. White can reanimate small creatures so acceptable overlap.
Blue is distantly secondary at discarding, having access to Compelling Deterrence, Frightful Delusion, Mindculling, Serum Raker, Trapfinder's Trick and Jace's Archivist
I view this a minor bleed, but not a bend, let alone a Planar Chaos style break.
Unhinge with the card draw split out to be targeted. Seems fine in black, but I don't think blue should be forcing discards. That's a Planar Chaos-level break, not a Shadowmoor-level bleed.
I think it's now a completely different card though :)
V: Also better if you have it in a hand full of two-drops or other three-drops. Not much better, but able to play it as a random 1/1, at least.
Noted
With the recent power creep in common creatures I think this acceptable at common. I will consider moving it to uncommon but hybrid NWO friendly clean commons are hard to design and I would like to keep it a common if able.
FWIW, this is cheaper than a common firebreather has been before. Closest we've had is Flamekin Brawler which has 0 base power. Then there are variants like Cinder Crawler and Bellows Lizard and Dragon Hatchling and Pygmy Pyrosaur.
There is just one one-drop with full firebreathing and no drawback: Lightning Berserker, at uncommon, curiously. But that's never been at common.
Huh. Prowess + Double Strike is really quite a nasty pairing.
Nice. A deceptively small critter.
