Hello, 230 life courtesy of Woodland Changeling.

Really, even if I care anough about the number of total creature types I have around enough to check whether I have reached five yet, I don't want to have to continue counting in case this gives me 7 or 8 life.

The static threshold of five is alright (if not my personal definition of fun - still might be worth checking how it plays). But the dynamic threshold cards are duds.

the existence of changelings does rather wreck this particular usage, yeah.

How about: Whenever a creature ETBs under your control, gain 1 life for each creature you control that doesn't share a type with it.

That would seem to capture the flavour (play lots of different creature types) without going stupid-high immediately.

I pointed out somewhere else how align and collaborate (two mechanics this set has that I personally would not put into the same set) both say "more creature types on a typeline are good"; a subtheme that says "but now more creature types on a creature means you are running the risk of playing overlapping creature types and get less out of Emissary of Miista" sends the wrong signal.

One of the problems I see with the two mechanics right now is both are in blue at common. If one of the colors is shifted I could narrow the creature variance slightly in two of the colors and widen it for the collaborate two.

Not the kind of wording I usually see on a magic card but it works I believe.

This still gets more than 200 life for the first changeling, right?

This is bordering Un territory. The effect may be unnecessary.

Now this should be more clear. Is this only comparing printed creature types with printed creature types or is this comparing the printed creature types of the new creature with the set of creature types (printed and acquired) of other creatures? The wording is ambiguous with the introduction of this new terminology.

That "printed types" idea looks like a very bad idea.

One common way to handle the changeling issue is to add some nonrelevant type outlier.
For example:

> Whenever a non-Brushwagg creature ETBs under your control, ...
