Random Generator gave me Urza's Power Plant and Royal Assassin. [Thing X + Y] are to be determined when something that makes sense pops up. This is the first thing that jumped in my head. You would think that there was inspiration from Scepter of Empires and its ilk, but, if there was, I wasn't concious of it.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the assassin, since he locks down boards. But, I understand the appeal. I still wonder if I could have worked this into a land. Maybe something like:

{t}: Add {1} to your mana pool.
{t}: Add {2} to your mana pool. Use this ability only if your opponent controls a tapped creature.

That might make a decent Rare land, or I could ask for two or three tapped creatures for an uncommon land, which I think I'd prefer (due to the rarity problems of the set). Do people have a specific preference?

I like the land idea. Either one or two tapped creatures seems plausible.

But I also like cards that encourage you to assemble three specific named cards, so I'm happy with either version.

Do you have a rule that you'll only add one card to this set per pair from the generator?

Hmm... I don't really have a rule per say. I suppose I could just make both up. As it stands, from what I'm looking at, I'm probably going to need to make about 500 of these cards before I can whittle down to a 350 or so stand alone set. Do we have the ability to export these cards back and forth between sets? For example, if I turned this set into a dump file, and later made the real Mashup: the Gathering, could I export all the cards I want in this file to Mashup?

The "Export" page exports to CSV, and the "Import" page imports from CSV. This is deliberate so that you can indeed transfer one cardset to another, or perform offline updates to a cardset and then mass apply them.

Excellent. Thank you.

You've also got the option of course of moving cards directly from one set to another.

Also, I've got some updates planned to the "active" status that'll give it a bit more bite. When those go in, if you configure the cardset appropriately, inactive cards won't show up at all in the visual spoiler, cardlist or boosters.

Oh, very nice. That's one of those things that's bothered me about this system, but, for some reason never occured to me that it could be changed. I'm a fan of deleting old work that doesn't work so that new ideas can prosper, but some good ideas should stick around in the back of one's head, or, in this case, hidden in a file.

New wording is missing "target" in the second ability.

Good call. Editing.
