Random Card generated Purify and Island, color-shifting Purify to Blue. Well, blue can't destroy enchantments and artifacts, but I can't remember if this card has ever been printed, and it seems like a decent idea.
In case your wondering, that's the flavor text of Purify, warped with Blue sensibilities. I was having a hard time coming up with a personality that would be in charge of a 'science' team in blue, who wasn't crazy, a villain, or didn't have weightier things on their mind. Clear sighted Braids, colorshifted in Planar Chaos fits the bill for me, though.
I can't see anything similar. There's a few "bounce all artifacts" and one "put all enchantments on top of their owner's library", but I couldn't see one that did both, so this fills a good hole.
Yep, this is a sensible in-between for Hurkyl's Recall and Upheaval. And yay for blue scientists: that's one of the flavours of blue I particularly like.
Unfortunately, Reduce to Dreams exists.
I say "Unfortunately" because it's not even an instant like Evacuation, Sunder, and Rebuild.
Reduce to Dreams is making me sad right now. I assume they printed it as is because it was an answer to Mirrodin block. But, as an answer to Mirrodin, they can't make it dominating, so they made it too expensive to do enough. Fine. I stand by my card. For what its effect is, at rare, it shouldn't cost more than Wrath of God.
