I like the idea of this card and how I assume its going to mix in with other things in the set somehow but it's abilities bring it's rarity into question. Even if the ability is going to tie into the set more I tend to think such narrow abilities require uncommon so that the player has to make more of a descision to go that route. Then raising the rarity could also give it a little more power and toughness and really be going harder for the archtype the ability goes along with.

Changed mana cost

I think there is a reason that they have not used graveyard order matters for years.

I'd thought about that a little. I may have another solution for this, but this was the first way I thought of to get him to do what I wanted.

Adjusted ability to remove "graveyard order" clause.

I believe you have a couple of these "land card in opponent's graveyard" abilities, but I'm not sure why they refer to an opponent's graveyard. Is it a Mindstrike-support condition or a tie-in with the sac lands?

I ask because it's a little weird to put a Mindstrike-supported ability on a card without Mindstrike. (Maybe not weird, but less satisfying.) And if that's not the intention, you have to realize that it's annoying enough to track your own graveyard, let alone someone else's.

I've had the same thought regarding the "land in graveyard" clause on this particular card. I've got a couple of "Crossblighted" cards that check to see if there's a land in your own graveyard, and I intend to expand that design by a few more cards (probably maxing around five cards). In those cases, I don't think it should be difficult to know if you've got the land in the bin; you've either gotten the land there or you haven't.

There's a blue mill card that looks to see if the cards being milled include a land, but that's a one-time check, so I wouldn't really put it in this category. I think I've got a black discard card that has a similar clause; same story.

The Pathtracker is sort of a black sheep though. My intent was to have a guy who got better when he could see your "trail of breadcrumbs", and as a top-down design I think this build works. You're right that this is tougher to remember than knowing whether your own graveyard contains a land. It also carries connotations of the Crossblighted dead-land check, which I don't like.

Ideas?

And the solution to the Pathtracker seems to be simply to change the skin; everything else just falls into place.
