To be on a creature, inseminate ought to be a keyword action, like support. It also needs to assign a color and a type to the creatures in create.
The name seems rather inappropriate, no?
Yes, I recommend changing the keyword ability. "Animate"?
So is inseminate a placeholder name or something you would actually intend to use?
When I found it in the thesaurus, it immediately fit perfectly in terms of flavor and mechanics.
Is English your first language? Are you aware that "inseminate" is a very sexual word? It would likely not be utilized by Wizards. Of course, this is a custom set, so you can do whatever you want.
I tried hard to avoid confronting your narrow world view. So please stop imposing your censorious attitudes on my projects and creations.
Simic is in huge part about biology and propagation. Of course sex plays a role. You think organisms are sexless? The fact you can offended at every mention of sex is more of an onus yourself. So your need to lash out your insecurity and ideology is really unwelcome.
How is this not just awaken?
I've re-read Link's comment over and over again, and I'm pretty sure he wasn't trying to offend you or anything. Your response was unwarranted.
You already have multiple people telling you that the keyword isn't a good idea, with the assumption that it's made with the same guidelines as a typical magic set. Which is, by and large, a game suitable for all ages. Yes, the simic probably have vats of beasts fucking people. Yes, the khans probably rape all the women of the clans they raid. But when I play with my seven year old daughter, I would prefer that I don't have a card called "Mardu Rapist".
There are many other ways of saying the same thing. Like said, why not just awaken? But if you want to "push the boundaries of magic", of course we have no choice but to respect that. Just put a faq on your front page or you'll have people bugging you about it more often than you'd like.
@continuum Because awaken isn't an action word. Duh.
I am not personally offended by your choice of terminology. One conversation with me IRL would likely result in you understanding just how comfortable I am talking about sex. It was not my intent to offend you or to raise your ire, amuseum. I apologize for having done so. I was simply trying to present you with information that it seemed you were lacking by attempting to explain that the name of your mechanic likely didn't fit with standards established by the creators of the game for which the mechanic is intended. If your mechanics and cards aren't intended to jive with Wizards' standards, that's perfectly fine and I have no issue with it. It's your choice, and it's a respectable one. I myself have designed cards with flavor or mechanics that would not be seen in real Magic sets. I simply suggest adding a disclaimer on such cards or cardsets, since the default point of view of the people who comment is likely to be one that tries to emulate the standards of Wizards.
Jameschanlee, thank you for the defense. I have come to expect vitriolic reactions from amuseum, so I try to just let them wash over me without affecting me.
and where does the line of being offended ever end? i can also take offense at your oppression of my creativity.
what's vitriolic is the never ending, cancerous spread of censorship in every field of art. Even in this tiny corner of the internet, the PC authoritarians must try to control the thoughts and ideas of niche creative expressions. you taking offense at every little thing is your personal issue that doesn't need be dragged into every thing you feel sensitive about.
i do take a firm stand because people like you keep bringing it up where it's not warranted. inseminate is a neutral term used in science and medicine. but to your twisted minds, everything is sexist and offensive. this tells me that you're the ones that need help to cleanse your minds of such dirty mindsets.
I very clearly stated that I was not offended. I see that you have chosen to read my statements as attacks on you and your art. They are not.
I have no desire to censor you. As I stated, it's your choice to make your cards according to whatever standards you prefer. I respect that right. It seems like you're looking for a reason be angry. Please stop trying to find it in my comments. Once again, they are not intended as attacks.
It just feels very out of the expected flavour of Magic; for me.
Also... is it an elf that inseminates; or one who inseminates elves?
I don't get the flavor here. He digs a hole on the ground and fucks it?

"Tree hugger" just took on a whole new meaning :P
