Could instead template like Suleiman's Legacy: "When ~ ETBs, destroy all creatures with flying. Whenever a creature with flying ETBs, destroy it." But that allows things to pick up flying equipment, for example. This way is less words and more loophole-proof: any time anything flies in any way, it dies. Regeneration only helps very briefly. The only drawback I can see is that this draws the game if there's a Darksteel Gargoyle around. (Well, and that the set is kinda themed around flyers, so this might be better deferred to set 2...)

You could protect against the Darksteel with the somewhat curious "Whenever a creature has flying, it loses flying UEOT. Destroy that creature."

That, of course, allows effective regen. You may or may not care.

Or I could always go the utterly bulletproof route with "its controller sacrifices it"... (Okay, that's not bulletproof against Darksteel Gargoyle plus Tajuru Preserver.)

Or "Creatures with flying get -6/-6" :) I'm not sure if you need to avoid the rules-awkwardness of "Whenever a creature has flying, destroy it" or revel in it :)

I think this is cool enough as it is to keep the simple wording. I may still move this off to set 2 though.

One possible alternate wording that avoids the drawn games:

{0}: Destroy all creatures with flying.

But that would allow the controller to keep flyers, which feels against the spirit of the thing.

destroy -> sacrifice

i like the "Creatures with flying get -6/-6" route, it even seems more impressive that way though it isn't

Oh, yeah, I quite like that idea.

Well, you would, it was you who suggested it 16 months ago :P :)

It feels less epic to me, less utterly final. But I can see the "big numbers = powerful" argument there.

Doh! I totally didn't see that comment, sorry :)

Bah. Sigarda, Host of Herons draws the game on her own with this out, even after I switched to the anti-Darksteel Gargoyle wording. She's quite popular in certain circles, so maybe I should turn this into -9/-9.
