Art: A beady-eyed policeman stares grimly at a distant bird or flying machine, and brandishes an unwieldy-looking steam-propelled crossbow or proto-firearm.
Not as good as Longbow Archer, but more common and less intensive mana requirements. One of the three common reach cards to answer the higher-than-normal density of flyers, along with Skywatcher Patrol and Skystretch Cabling.
I note that reach is rather out-of-pie for white these days (as in, there haven't been any white reach cards in all of Modern). Perhaps a flying defender would be better. Flavour would need to change a bit.
(Indeed, it seems no colour but green gets reach. I guess white gets flying+defender, and red gets reach in planar chaos, and I guess white would get "can block creatures as though they have no abilities" but not at common :))
it depends on how you define the pie and how you split it. right now, it seems some colors get a lot more of the pie. anyway, it still seems stale and predictable. just rehash over rehash. red has 1000 burn spells. how many are played in competitive constructed? 10 20? does green need another or 10 mana elves? does white need another unplayable flyer? does anyone really care? yeah yeah limited; just another reason cards are so redundant and unimaginative. esp. NWO saying only simple no-brainer cards at common.

"Eagle-winged Watchman" :)

Reach is indeed very strange in anything other than green. It appears on artifacts sometimes, right?
colorshifted canopy spider with first strike.
keep it as is. cards nowadays are too homogenized in terms of color pie. 90% of the color does this, so should the other 10%. boring.
The point of the color pie is so that having different colors has meaning. It's one of the defining features of Magic. How can you call it boring?

For what it's worth, Reach has been on 5 mono-white cards... though, those card stretch back from Homelands, Visions, Tempest, and both Portals.
