So Repress is basically just Flanking? (Mtenda Herder)

Huge difference. MaRo has talked before about fixing flanking. Just look at the difference between the two. This one is unconditional and doesn't want other decks also using repress.

(I didn't mean for this comment to sound so snippy.)

By "huge difference" you mean "removed the drawback from flanking and powered it up," and also "made it unclear whether it's a triggered ability or a state-based effect by changing the wording?"

It's a more powerful variant of it; and kinda like super-firstest-strike.

Not really seeing a problem with the ability (except does it really need a keyword?)

It does make this, toughly as powerful as: 1/2 double-strike. Which is a perfectly fine card; but {w} is a bit cheap for it, doncha think?

Nah, this isn't really like double strike. If Mtenda Herder was okay as a one-drop back when Savannah Lions had to be rare, I'm sure a slightly-tweaked version of flanking is fine on a one-drop by modern creature power levels.

I agree with Link - this doesn't look like a "huge difference", it looks like "removed the drawback" (which is fair enough) plus "really unclear wording" (which needs fixing).

Well, on a 3/3 it wouldn't be; but on a 1/1 it's "Deal one extra damage, as soon as I block - before you hit me and reduce the damage I take by 1". I guess the important difference is when it isn't blocked, then it's just a plain 1/1. And it doesn't benefit from +X/+0 the way doublestrike does...

Yeah, ok. Still seems quite pushed to me, though.

@Vitenka: Sidewinder Sliver. There was a white sliver deck going around in Timespiral that played 4 of these. It was a good card. But I wouldn't call a non-sliver version of the card 'pushed'.

It's really not pushed. It's less good than a 1/1 unblockable, and there are versions of that at 1 mana like Prickly Boggart and Tormented Soul.

Works as a blocker tooo...
