Blue Legendary Land round 2. This time Gatherer randomly gave me Grave-Shell Scarab, and I put together this. I wasn't sure what to cost a land that sacrifices to draw a card, so I looked up "Type = Land" "Text = Draw a card" on Gatherer. Doesn't exist. Really? That sounds like a common cycle waiting to happen....
Anyhow, since this land is a legendary rare, I figured I'd get aggressive and pattern the card draw on Mind Stone, and the 'dredge' on the beetle. 1 & 1. My only problem with those costs is that this might be an automatic 4 of in mono-blue. Legendary permanents that are automatic 4 of are kind of silly... but... hmm... I guess you don't draw the card the turn you play the land. Probably not automatic 4.
There are one or two card-draw effects on lands, most notably Horizon Canopy. As that card shows, development seem to think it's very, very good to get to cycle your lands for cards once you don't need them any more. (Contrast with Secluded Steppe and friends for if you don't need to play them first.)
I like this. It's definitely got Grave-Shell Scarab in it, it's nice and interesting, but the ETBT (plus being legendary) makes it definitely not an automatic 4-of. Good spot to be in.
Ah, yes, Horizon Canopy. Keep forgetting that one. Wonder why it didn't pop up in the Gatherer search? Ah well.
