Think Megatron of Tranformers meets Phyrexians. Megatron can become a weapon that other Decepticons can equip. Mekkei is a race, like Phyrexians, are part flesh, part machine.
You could also create an Autobot commander. A Legendary Vehicle that can be your commander.
