This is really, really expensive for what it does at the uncommon position. I can't think of any reason to use this card because the costs are so high and the benefits so small.
By comparison, Crystal Ball costs 4 to play and activate and doesn't take away a creature resource to use.
I see your point. I don’t think the two are entirely analogous though, as this can be activated multiple times in a turn, whereas the ball was a one-shot each turn. I’ll adjust this and we’ll see how it flies.
If there were ever an equipment that could have an equip cost of
, this would be it. Lightning Greaves? Bad Idea. Mediocre card filter gadget? A-ok!
You really think this is safe for a
equip cost? I realize that scry 1 isn’t nearly as strong as scry 2, but it still lets you dig through a deck.
Okay, when both of you are bending the same way at the same time, there’s probably a good reason. You win. Three-drop, zero-equip?
Yeah, just visualize the scenario where someone is going to "go off" and use this a bunch. Have you visualized it yet? Because all you should see is one player who is under no pressure and decided to troll their opponent by tapping all their creatures in order to look at the same card again and again.
Whereas, if someone needs to scry to find an out, tapping all your defenders/attackers main phase is only viable if you know you have a wrath-effect.
Hmm... I wouldn't be as concerned about power level as much as I would be concerned about stalling the game as a player scry 1s, thinks, gets rid of and repeats with 5 saprolings on the table. That said, at least this is all happening at sorcery speed.
Houlding makes a good point. I always seem to forget that when you have a lot of spare creatures, they should probably be attacking.
I can also see where JM is coming from, but this concerns me less. If someone wants to slow-roll a game for a 1-0 win, they're going to find a way with or without this.
So now that Scry is out of the set, I like this kind of build. It’s a far more efficient filter than “scry 1”, so it needs an activation on the ability, but it also works really nicely with Evidence effects now, so I’m okay with the rising cost.
