I thought of this, costed it comparable to Curse of the Pierced Heart, and then looked for black equivalents and saw Soul Bleed. I considered alternatives to make a better card without being strictly better, but eventually decided the simplest execution was best, and given similar cards in other colours, black could have an efficient version of it some of the time.
