I selected Blasting Desert and Random Generator gave me Crooked Scales. This represents a bit of a change in how Mashup: the Gathering is operating. As I've moved forward, there have been a number of cards that infer that they are part of a cycle. I'd hate to make that card, and not have the cycle present, so I've come up a compromise. I'm selecting a card from the Workbench, but still letting the Random Generator give me the other cards in that cycle.
I really like this design approach. Presumably you asked the random generator for 4 more cards, and then assigned them to the four remaining colours as seemed most appropriate?
Pretty much. Crooked Cliffs was generated first, but I saw the upcoming problem of doing something like forcing trample in blue. So, with the other 3, I randomized ahead of time so I had fiddle room.
Also, I just noticed that you can target yourself with this if you really, really want to sacrifice that creature. Funny.
Originally, this card had "if you lose the flip, sacrifice a creature." Beyond being unfun for some people, it was just too many words for what should be a simple land. Pared down to simplest form, and upped by
. Unfortunately, it loses a little of the feel of Crooked Scales... but not too much.
