I'm surprised this can be so cheap; but it seems it really can be. Maybe it shouldbe a sorcery though?

I really don't care for black looting. This is the faithless looting that black as a reanimation color hungers for. Asking the color to splash other colors to get access such ways is part of the "jumping through hoops" to get some off-color giant dude on the board with zombify. It's one thing to discard as a cost (which I'm rather wary as well btw in black because of this) and another to loot as when you are drawing to discard it's doing multiple things at the same time that such a deck wants - looking for the cards to reanimate with and also dumping the targets.
