2nd side represents a creature likely to be found on the astral plane, and that has the exile theme.
Not sure if it would have to be raised to

to be balanced with Portal added.
Removed first strike.
Raised cost to

, Re-added first strike.
thanks. I was confused what the heck was turning a sorcery into a creature. Does this hold true for your other cards?
I checked a few others out and i'm assuming it does.
Yes everything with the Portal mechanic transforms instants and sorceries into creatures (and in one case, an enchantment).
I don't think the flicker ability works the way you want it to
That's the same issue I commented on already for Astral Journey.
I had thought the update to Portal had resolved that? Does the 2nd side not count as exactly what it says it is - a creature? I suppose I didn't quite grok why the 2nd side still counts as an instant/sorcery. If so, I believe my designs for Ethereal Jaunt and Ethereal Reversal also might not work as intended, unless it's only the "battlefield" aspect of the Astral cards that are really the issue, because instant/sorceries can be returned to their owner's hand.
If it comes down to it both this and Astral Journey could be split into two different, non DFC cards and I wouldn't necessarily lose sleep over it. As individual cards they would still hit on key archetypes, themes and flavor. The Astral Plane and related creatures jibe perfectly with flicker and self-flicker. Conversely, I'm associating the Ethereal Plane with bounce and self-bounce effects.
Oh, didn't see SM's other comment. No, the issue is that when a card changes zones, it defaults to its front face. The portal ability works, but when you activate the flicker ability of Spectral Hound, it gets exiled and turns back into Astral Void. Then it's a sorcery again and can't enter the battlefield. If you make it "exile ~. Return it to the battlefield transformed under its owner's control at the beginning of the next end step," it would work, but I would it would be confusing. There's a hidden transform when you exile it that you have to explicitly reverse
Also, why isn't this a "blink hound"? That name adds some cachet
Thanks for clarifying, that makes sense.
Your solution is possible, though I may actually lean towards just separating these into different cards still.
For the moment I'll add "transformed".
Added "transformed".
