I feel it would be better to not use a "counter" but use new terminology. Counters are best used when it's actually only the number of a certain type matters (hence "counters") and the interactions rely on that.
Fore example you could avoid naming a playing piece and just say that the period starts at 0 and increases.
If you want to call out the playing piece and want to make its position matter, I would go for a new type of playing piece e. g. a marker.
Lastly, since you are already using numbers, if you really insist on using counters, make their count matter rather than their position and use wording/frames akin to Sagas and levelers. Especially with regards to Sagas this is treading very similar ground after all.
You didn't really manage to make a legible card - that's an issue for a showcase.
Congrats, you reinvented sagas. Wizards already tried this version and it didn't work out
none of criticisms make any sense.
what is difference between counter and marker? either dictionary sense or game sense.
this is the leveler frame. so how is it less legible when it's the exact same layout?
