Huh, I just automatically read that as a goblin.
Not exactly. It can only exile your card for effect.
Goblins don't mind blowing things up in your face. Gnomes are more whimsical, less malicious. I hope people don't have a problem with this gnome kick I've been on.
So this is just a better Shape Anew
I wanted it to be artifact polymorph, but requiring an artifact send to be a huge penalty.
Since this can take a creature as input, it should allow a creature as output.
I think its ok for a 7 mana legend to combo out with one or two other artifacts, so long as the combo isn't just playing more of itself.
Nonlegendary is still not a hurdle if you play a Sculpting Steel first, without copying anything, and then play this to make lots of copies of the Sculpting Steel.
Note that this also effectively removes the "you control" restriction.
SBAs kill it before the trigger goes on the stack, but the trigger does go on the stack. Leads to a weird combo with Sharuum, Sculpting Steel, and something that cares about ETB or death triggers. I really like the nonlegendary restriction.
Maybe "put a copy of target nonlegendary artifact" That would stop it and keep it elegant.
Ah I think I see what you're saying now... hmmm. I guess the state based legend rule doesn't quite beat it out of the stack, eh?
We could have an etb as well, but it couldn't be 2 mana with that power level, could it?
Could be GG, but I like it at 2G
What if it was "target artifact not named Gravortus"? That should prevent the infinite loop, but tracks funny.
Unlimited copies? I don't see what you're saying.
Yeah, this works fine.
If you have one of these and another artifact, playing a duplicate of the legend actually gives you unlimited copies of the other artifact.
I'd forgotten about Magmatic Insight. I think it's in uncommon in part because of the fell bad of discarding as a cost and the mana screw. Duel decks are a bit more of an elevated product then origins though and this won't mana screw (quite the opposite it can mana fix), so I could see this going either way.
Maybe a 4/4? It's effect is deceptively big, and its body is still useable by exploit, so I don't thing it needs to be huge.
Switched to five. It will definitely need playtest to find the right number though.
gains -> gets. Riding a crazy rocket doesn't make you tougher.
Neat, but with too many noncreature based prayers, this may prove problematic. UR can't really deal with this once it is on the battlefield.
Seven or more creatures is a real steep cost :/
Strong card. UR doesn't really have a meaningful way to interact with this in the long term unfortunately.
