  I don't really like the idea of having a white plant but the ability certainly isn't green and I don't want to make a multicolor card just to accommodate the creature type.

  Not that I suspect it matters to you, but this card is allowing mono-green to "destroy target creature", and mono-black to "destroy target enchantment". No matter how big the disadvantage, those are just way out of pie. If the underlie cost was this wouldn't be a problem.
