Mechanics

Strife: When a spell with strife is played you may destroy a permanent with the same converted mana cost as the spell with strife if a creature was sent from the battlefield to the graveyard the turn it was cast. Used on 6 cards: Blessed Dead, Foulflesh Soldiers, Raging Conquestors, Suffering Savant, Trachol's Mount, Relentless Pursuit

Red and black both offer a lot of destruction spells. White doesn't fit it especially much, but I felt that strife was a bit more orderly than the wildly burns of red and "kill it" spell of black.

Underlie: Cards with underlie return to the battlefield with entirely different abilities once they enter the graveyard if their underlie cost was paid. Used on 4 cards: Malicious Scheme, Ink Squirt, Absolute Treachery, False-Life Asp

Growth, deceit, and life manipulation were the three things I thought would work for a cephalid-based group. For underlie I tried to combine all this in one, a more a card returning the graveyard as something more powerful.

In card text or details pages, write the mechanic's code name (playtest name) between square brackets, like "[Crittercast]", "[Bushido 1]" or "[Delay 4 {2}{R}{R}]". It will be expanded to the mechanic's name plus reminder text, such as "Suspend 4 – {2}{r}{r}. (Rather than cast this spell from your hand,...)"
To expand a mechanic's name but not its reminder text, include parentheses at the end of the square brackets: "[Crittercast()]", "[Delay 9 {R}()]".
