I decided to go with the symmetrical route since this can be activated every other turn. Now I guess the question is if its costed right?
Hee. That's an interesting variation. Makes me think of Boldwyr Heavyweights, or Iwamori of the Open Fist, but those were pure-drawback mechanics on oversize creatures. This is... curiously symmetrical. I don't think I've seen anything like this before; the closest I can think of is Noble Benefactor. This is pretty awesome in the "breakable symmetry" stakes.
Thank you for catching the spelling error. And for letting me know of the baseline for lands. Caring for my 8 mo old doesn't leave me time to search gatherer for the baseline of cards when they come to mind I just enter them and hope to get back to them when I can.
I am going to tweak it so that it let's everyone search and switching the mana produced and the activation cost to colorless.
It's a "the power level on this is ridiculous" cow. Look at what Stensia Bloodhall did for an equivalent amount of mana, and that didn't make colored mana. Look at Vitu-Ghazi, the City-Tree, and Sliver Hive. Repeatable creature searching to the battlefield is better than all of those, even though you can only do it every other turn with this.
Also, you spelled "Genesis" wrong.
Is that a good cow or a bad cow?
Holy cow.
Ok that seems good.
Hm. It's still a lot worse than Disperse, though, because you need to leave the 2 mana up just like Disperse, except you need to also pay 3 mana at sorcery speed as setup.
to cast and then
to sac would leave this as an interesting variant on Boomerang/Disperse.
I changed it to bounce non-land.
Yeah, the big problem with it before was the repeatability. If it's not repeatable then it's Unsummon which is a 1-mana common printed every year. (Admittedly most years it's 2 mana, like Journey's End.)
Perhaps an in-between could be an enchantment with "When ~ ETBs, bounce target creature" and also "[mana], Sacrifice ~: Bounce target creature"? Bouncing two creatures has been done in NWO common on occasion (Whiplash Trap, Quicksilver Geyser) so that should be okay.
So now it's a really bad Seal of Removal.
Ok that is a very good point I think then I'll tweak this to cost this at 3 and activate for 2 and change it so that it is sacrificed instead of returning to hand on activation.
Warning just makes it worse. This card is quite complex, since you have to take into account every possible scenario of what gets bounced before you attack or block. Read MaRo's article on Lenticular Design, especially the board complexity section, for a better explanation.
@ dude1818 - I agree with the template change for the ability. But I don't see how combat gets confusing? It's no different from any other instant bounce effect in combat, save that you get warning that it's coming.
@ Vitenka - Repeatable removal does get a warning flag at common. Given that I'm thinking of changing it to just affect creatures.
I'll also be changing the cast cost to CMC 4.
This card would annoy the hell out of opponents. A lockdown deck is never much fun to play against; and making this common means that just about everyone will be doing it.
Maybe this is now costly enough? I dunno. But repeatable removal is a big warning flag in common.
2 to cast and 3 to activate might be okay, I guess. Capsize does have the drawback that you can counter it by removing its target in response. A slightly weaker template could be "[mana], Return ~ to its owner's hand: Return target nonland permanent to its owner's hand." I prefer that template. No matter what, the card is too complex for common. Combat gets too confusing.
So what you are saying is that 17 yrs after Tempest and Capsize. That this card; that can't be cast in response to anything, can't target lands, and is in a meta-game that where hexproof is a thing. Can't be a common with a 2 cmc activation cost? I can see it costing cmc 4 to cast and 2 to activate.
Capsize at common was a mistake. Make it an uncommon at cost 3 and 3 mana and it's still very powerful.
