That was my first guess, too. And I might still do so.
Researching similar cards though, I noticed that even dealing straight 3 damage without any condition on ETB on a mid-size flier is quite unique.
I'm apprehensive about using Magmatic Scorchwing as reference.
I have decided to give self-mill on cards that return from the graveyard to all colors quite a while ago as a variant on effects that return a card "milled this way".
Here the idea is that artifacts are a bit of a sub-theme, but not big enough to always make use of the Reconstruction-effect, so I glued a Faerie Mechanist-style effect on it in a way that uses as little words as possible.
I always may opt to change the effect substantially by adding "milled this way", but conscription eats a lot of text space.
That card... will likely be strictly better than a card we'll see printed soon. I remember how the pendulum swung into the other direction with Luminous Bonds.
One of the issues with designing for an "Eternal world", is that you have compete with all the power creep in the game. My sets are designed for a "Limited world" first.
Shame they've been power creeping this effect so much. Planar Disruption
This could probably cost 5, especially as a signpost
Weird to see mill on a white card, but I guess the package works
For the cycle!
Considering more narrow card that returns only Fortification, but commons should work in Limited.
Draft signpost.
Should this conscribe 1 on ETB (with adjusted cost)?
Best reference: Stirge.
REPRINT: Trapped in the Tower.
Perfect name. Hard not to use it.
a.k.a. "Crenellation Crawler" or "Brickwalla"
Top-down.
I kinda want to not be restricted to brick counters, but we all know how that worked out for Vampire Hexmage.
Bottom-up. Wither benefit.
The most obvious card to put into the set. :)
I'm happy with the name.
For the cycle!
Adlaphi is already a term introduced earlier.
I don't want white to cheaply ramp, but not leave them out of advance entirely. This seems like a decent solution.
Cool for all kinds of white themes.
I consider changing the definition of height to also be influenced by fortifications.
