actually i would switch the two costs....
this is kinda silly rn... flicker only costs 1 and why would it cost less to make it permanent than it does to do a 1 drop ability....
yea pls ficks
edit: in 3 months i guess :)
actually kicker is going to be , not
noodling
okay i will make the base cost and the kicker
3 mana is okay for exile according to Unmake
sorry for late reply, i rarely check multiverse if not to make a new card design.
This is a tricky one. If you go back to ye olden days, Swords to Polughshares says this is absolutely fine. But, well, it's typically not done any more.
But honestly; that's just a costing issue. Or maybe "Target attacking or blocking creature".
I wonder if it could somehow be "Flicker then exile unless you pay..." but that's really just noodling for the sake of it.
For this card to be 'balanced', both the non-kicker version, and the kicked version need to be 'more expensive' than their respective spells. Right now, even the non-kicked version is cheaper than Cloudshift because it isn't restricted to your own creatures. And while uncommon is allowed to be better than common, I'd argue that Couldshift could be printed as an uncommon without any changes. It's a solid card that was reprinted in Masters 25.
Without changing the text, therefore, I'd have to argue for a cost of , and a kicker of .
I presume you want the base cost of the spell to remain though. If that's the case, I'd suggest finding some sort of restriction that would make the base spell seem 'worse' in some way to Cloudshift. One example could be:
Kicker - Exile target creature, if it is white... etc., etc.
The simplest change to make this spell cost , though, would be to make it a sorcery. But maybe you don't want that either.
i might've heard that somewhere too, but also it's on lots of cards... even at common.
i just know i wouldnt pay 6 mana to exile a creature. with that much mana i could cast wayyy better spells.
Personally, I think unconditional exile in white is a color pie break
well Blessed Light can do that or an enchantment for 5 (so id subtract 1)
Also, Final Reward can do it for 5 (being secondary at most in exiling)
all in all i think it makes sense to put at 5, because again versatility in kicker. Which sadly makes it so inefficient (the reason i dont like the mechanic, even though i really want to)
Listed some other examples that didn't involve card math.
i'd like to comment i believe it's important to note this is also an uncommon, and most the cards we've said are common. This may be justified already without taking costing to mind, because it is a bit wordy for a common, and kicker isn't on commons usually, because it's just a bit too much.
I would basically agree 4w for kicker, but also that isn't including the previous w payed for the spell anyway, and after all these examples of a simple ability, i'd rather have a 4 cost kicker that's a bit better than other kickers than just a usual kicker card that ignores a very used effect to be purposefully mediocre.
Also this would be great in any standard (only if uncommon) that wanted white midrange (control and anything-else-that-comes-from-flicker (including control, redundantly enough...))
thanks for listening to my ted talk
edit: fixed links
The kicker should be 5 mana. This becomes Trostani's Judgment minus Wake the Reflections, and kicker adds versatility anyway
LOL NO. that's better than swords to plowshares right now.
Make the kicker 1w or 2w and you should be fine :)
flavooor
and a really cool card.
gg
much better, you addressed most the issues i think.
to clarify, is the idea that each tier gets better? because that's what it does right now. However, Spring is totally underpowered right now. I'd buff it, but not too much.
This does take a while to do, but it still seems really good for 4 mana. Maybe up to 5 or 6, but balancing is problebly someone elses mo
is 2 mana ok for exile effect?
i hope this one is ok :(
you're right about the name, i totally derped on pointing that out to him... i don't know why, but i feel like autumn is the word rnd/wotc would use... fall has so many other uses in the nomenclature of the game...
Summer should probs be buffed too? like 7 life?
The thing is this isn't flavorfully a Saga, but mechanically i don't think there is a better way to make it cycle. It should cycle through them in a proper order.
Also the name Cycle of Seasons is kind of on-the-nose... Just feels a bit too gross (not icky, i mean un-subtle)
Also spring makes sense if it comes after winter, (ie chronological cycling) but otherwise i'd suggest to change it to maybe "Create a token that is a copy of a creature you control". baby fever!
I also don't flavorfully understand Summer or August's thing?
I'd honestly think Autumn would make you discard cards, rather than draw them?
And Summer makes sense, but isn't as deep as the others...
Nonetheless, super cool idea, this is just a collection of feedback on this post.
I like it as an enchantment, but yeah, I wish there was a way that forced the player to cycle through the choices. I think the August (also, why August over Autumn or Fall?) bend is fine, not too far from green's enchantress draw if the abilities could only happen in a cycle or the card as a whole as a saga.
this would be really cool as a Saga.
I don't think making it less cards is the idea. maybe just change it entirely.
Would this be less broken if each additional ability cost ?
Maybe make it a strive sorcery?
The hexproof isn't really needed, yeah.
If it had to go through them in order, that would work well. It's kinda saga, actually. Except it can (presumably) repeat. I'd also advise losing the hexproof, and maknig ... august? Autumn I assume, be just the one card.
August is a complete color pie break. All of these seem way overpowered to be uninteractable upkeep triggers (except Summer, which is unplayable)
Is there a word for these kinds of cards? Maybe replace that word with cycle
I like these a lot, except August is a bit of a color pie bend, and I'd think it would be cool to see it be put a land from hand otb tapped
i hope these abilities are good. i wanted to have one that adds mana, but it didnt make the cut. Maybe you have better ideas for what the seasons could do
I also would appreciate a epic mystical name for this card.
:D
cool card.
Shade needs to be capitallicated
also if you want this to have flying, why not give it a name like Overseer? or Supervisor? Overlord works too, but something that really expresses being above the others, physically.
love tahazzars idea
Nice. However, I think I would rename it to "Bonfire Night" and have it cost ... and change what type of mana it would produce. wraths are rare enough of an occurrence that missing do one here would be sad.
