I got Misshapen Fiend and Mountain out of the random generator. I could have thrown the Mountain away, but it seemed like a good way to use color shifting. The more I think about this card, the more surprised I am that Wizards hasn't printed it. It's playable, but clearly shows that red is the worst flying color.
Radom Card Generator gave me Castigate and Doomsday Specter. My first thought was that the cards were too similar to each other, but I had some wiggle room to play with. While I was there, I gave them a little modern sensibility, and added a clever trick that most players will hate. I'm a stinker.
Gloom + Golem's Heart. So far, this was the easiest one to design. It does a good job of working with Black's anti-artifact sensibilities, since black can't get rid of artifacts, it can only make it more painful to play with them. I know strict life gain isn't really a black thing, but I'm fine with it on this card.
Mudbutton Torchrunner meet Phyrexian Scuta. Now we know what happens when a Torchrunner becomes compleated. Even though Phyrexian Scuta was designed in the 90s, I gave it 21st century Phyrexian sensibilities. Old design is one thing, but the old flavor doesn't seem right.
