See Challenge # 113.
I was brainstorming other ways cards could have increased cost without being X, and shapeshifters immediately sprang to mind :) This could just have been Clone, but I decided to give it a specific boost for a bigger CMC to make the point more directly.
Hmm. Clones are certainly an effect whose expected value gets better as the game goes on. I'm not quite sure it meets the terms of the challenge though... "an effect that gets better as the card or effect's cost increases". I suppose it depends quite what the referent of 'the card or effect' is... :)
I meant, that "cost" as in "mana cost" is one of the properties copied by clone effects, so the more expensive the thing it copies, the bigger the "cost" and the better the P/T of the creature. I agree, the expectation was probably "cost" as in "amount you have to pay", but in magic, "mana cost" has a specific meaning, and it wasn't ruled out interpreting the challenge that way :)
Hahaha! Right, yes, not the cost of the spell, the cost of the permanent... nicely done, sir!
*Cheshire cat grin* Thank you! :)
