Tweak on upkeep costs. 1U is fair price for 1/3, and not too aggressive, so this feels fair as upkeep and casting cost the same, and as you can always choose to not replay it for a turn, not as frustrating as when you have to let something die.

Indeed, this is eminently fair. Reminiscent of Trusted Advisor, which was uncommon, but perhaps he only was because his cycle was.
