For Challenge # 016. I tried to cut some text, but really, all of it makes sense together for me. If I was pushing this card for reals, I'd probably move to make it a double faced card. Probably with the +0 ability flipping him over into a creature until end of turn.
You know what, let's do that. Squee originally turned into a 1/1 goblin creature similar to Gideon Jura and took damage in the form of losing loyalty counters. Now, he transforms into this:
Squee, Still Squee
, Exile a card in your hand: Return ~ from your graveyard to your hand.
Legendary Creature - Squee
At the beginning of the end step, transform ~.
1/1
I also took this opportunity to shove the "return to your hand" clause to the "back". That's a really cool trick for double-faced cards... I'm almost surprised they didn't pull that stunt on an Innistrad rare.
Also, also: Squee doesn't return to your hand at the beginning of upkeep anymore, because I figured that would probably be too good with this card. Besides, he's a Planeswalker now. You're going to have to pay him a
mana for that sort of privilege.
You can enclose the loyalty symbols in square brackets to get the funky arrows. As for transform cards, I guess I'll get there eventually, but not in the next couple of weeks.
As for the design - I fear a planeswalker transforming into a non-planeswalker would confuse a few too many people. The loyalty counters need to stay on him as a creature, although they don't do anything there. Burning him as a creature can't remove loyalty counters, but if he flips in response (due to Moonmist + Imagecrafter, say) then the burn spell will have an illegal target. Actually, that's an awesome interaction, so I'm all for it :P
Heh heh. I rather like this stupid little card. I can just imagine clearing the board while my opponent is at 3, then transforming Squee and watching my opponent's eyes go wide.
Hmmm... doesn't his creature side have to be his front face, so that you can use his resurrection ability?
add second face as per jmg's design
