This skews the color pie in my eyes a little bit. I would want it to be UW rather than GW, but maybe just W is okay.
Doesn't really have any impact mechanically, but the name "Grumkin" is from Song of Ice and Fire.
When I make dinner, I tend to make a lot of things, very slowly.
To commemorate our cross-country trip.
Fun Fact: One reason basset hounds were bred to have large jowls was to make it harder for foxes/badgers/etc to get to the dogs' throats and other vital areas.
Oh, cute! I love the flavour, I'd play this in a casual deck just for the concept.
My girlfriend likes hippos.
That's right, I got my girlfriend a pet cheetah.
On a mechanical note, I didn't really know how to represent a pet cheetah in a flavorful way, so I just stuck a but of "fast" keywords on, despite their unsynergy.
Our basset hound emits a fair amount of eye gook.
There are a lot of basset hound references...
We recently went camping up at a cabin she used to go to with her family.
My girlfriend works with children and this is the name of one of the songs she sings with them.
Obscure, pretty uninteresting reference to Lyra from Golden Compass.
A funny sound my girlfriend makes.
Oh the sass.
My girlfriend may or may not have an online shopping addiction.
Second silver-border-land card. Flavor text is a How I Met Your Mother reference.
Pun. One of the two silver-border-land cards.
Our asshole neighbor.
Our basset hound has literally the worst breath.
It's usually my job to kill the strange centipedes attracted to our bathtub. I studied entomology for a little while, so I try to tell her about the species, but she usually "discards" that knowledge...
Her favorite card when she started playing? Siege Mastodon. Don't ask me why.
We joke that our basset hound emits a strange aura that puts us to sleep.
Mechanically I actually find this card surprisingly interesting. If I were making it for a real set, I would make it mono 's version of a Fiend Hunter, as it performs similarly, but it can actually be a bit better. The creature remaining tapped makes the creature unable the block the turn this card is removed and it also doesn't allow the opponent to retrigger ETB effects. Obviously not always better (static effects or auras come to mind) but food for thought.
Seinfeld reference.
Law & Order reference.
Devoted Bodyguard -> Scape Goat
So this was my Valentines gift to my girlfriend: A whole new deck! She loves her Karador deck, so I made her a new ~64 cards, all focused on things she enjoys doing (gaining life, getting tokens), a bunch of inside jokes included, and we did all the illustrations ourselves. Super fun if anyone ever wants to do it. I may have to do a couple other decks in the future.
On a design note, I know quite a few of the cards are pushed or mildly off-color. We're still doing some touch-ups, so we may change some stuff. Any suggestions are appreciated, and I may update after some play testing.
