The Plane now known as Arboretia is a relatively young plane that, when discovered by the Planeswalker Rialla, had no native inhabitants beyond the plants and animals that had already developed there. Rialla found Arboretia to be perfect for her plans to preserve species from throughout the multiverse from the depredations of 'sentient' races. Over the centuries, Rialla has transplanted many diverse species to Arboretia.
Until fairly recently, Rialla and her followers believed they were the only 'intelligent' inhabitants of Arboretia. several other Planeswalkers have recently discovered Arboretia (as explained in the Planeswakes page). Rialla's followers and the hunters of Nasun have already come into conflict on several occasions as their goals are diametrically opposed. Varo Deathwalker has made peaceful contact with Rialla and assured her he seeks nothing but to study the cycle of life and death in such a primal setting. The two have an uneasy truce as Rialla waits to see if Varo lives up to his word. Meanwhile, just off the coast of the Super-continent's western shores (90% of the land on Arboretia is one large pan-continental mass with only a few large islands off the coasts.), Elena Moreau, an exiled member of the Simic guild from the plane of Ravnica has set up her own laboratory on the largest of these Island masses. So far, Elena is unaware of the other Planeswalkers and they of her. She is happy to conduct her experiments with only the occasional foray to the mainland to collect specimens.
