dude: Yes, please do.
This is awesome. Can I use it in my set, http://multiverse.heroku.com/cardsets/92? It's a Doctor Who-themed set, so lots of time travel and exile mechanics.
doesn't include color, so you should say "Pay any amount of mana: Return Cagloistro to play from your graveyard as a copy of target creature with mana cost equal to the mana you spent this way. (Mana cost includes color.)"
:D
Me: I swing with my guardian.
Opponent: Yeah. Whatever. I don't block.
Me: About Face?
Opponent: WTF!
I'd not considered the cost in detail. I'm not sure why, but I admit, Indominable Ancients suggests you're probably correct.
If it's going to cost 5, I feel like there should be more white in the mana cost.
Thank you! I was thinking of variants on "deal damage to blah creatures" and the opposite of white's ability popped into my mind. And it's so red -- obviously red can do damage to any creature, when that's especially useful is hitting things that are being held back.
Awesome! I don't think anything has done "damage to each creature not in combat" before. About the only thing that's done anything to creatures not in combat is Unlikely Alliance.
This isn't really part of this set, I'm just dropping ideas in. Has red done "damage to each creature not in combat"? It seems very red. Originally it was going to be an instant, but I thought it had more emphasis if the defending player had to keep choosing whether to block or not.
Oh, do they? ...So they do: rule 508.6 has been updated since I last checked. That's very sensible. In which case, ignore my objection.
Hmmm. It isn't, currently. Perhaps it should be. I do support most other aspects of a card being unspecified.
Probably not much would break if I did. Yeah, that's a reasonable suggestion; I'll add it to the feedback repository.
Is it possible to assign something to be an unspecified rarity? It doesn't seem to be in the dropdown listbox. That might actually be useful for cards which are in design rather than development.
Yeah. I was riffing on simpler variants of http://multiverse.heroku.com/cards/1331 . I was thinking of something like the effect of Remand but even weaker. But maybe you're right, this really wouldn't do anything.
Note, you can also use it to rescue one of your own spells if you need. I was thinking of some examples where it would be worth delaying an opponents spell, at least until the stack resolves, but now I can't think of any; if they can play it at all, they can presumably play it immediately.
Yeah, I was basically seeing if I could make a toughness big enough to be exciting[1] :) I think it has to be rare, even if people are still mostly annoyed by vanilla rares.
[1] Although, given blightsteel colossus, maybe the time for a 20/20 card has come? :)
Oh yes, good point. I'd completely forgotten that wrinkle. Maybe there is a good reason Rocket-powered Turbo Slug was in an Un- set after all :)
Although, apparently the rules now say "The declare blockers and combat damage steps are skipped if no creatures are declared as attackers or put onto the battlefield attacking" so have they updated it? There are quite a lot of "onto the battlefield attacking" cards now, but none that don't rely on a creature already attacking.
Oh, huh. Yes, I thought that would only be if the first creature was targetted, but not. Thanks.
I'm about to give up on naming things competently (but thanks for pointing it out), noticing automatically is a cunning idea.
Fun!
Sadly the name Regress is taken. I should make Multiverse detect that when you're entering a card name. Not that it'd help if you bulk import cards like you did here :)
Hmm. Not quite sure I see the point, in most cases. Good against spells with an additional cost, I suppose...?
