The first official wedge was Sultai in Tarkir. In that block, its emphasis was library and graveyard manipulation.

are the three colors that manipulate library and graveyard. Including best at drawing cards and using graveyard as resource.

can mill any player.

can sift through the top cards of your library and look for certain types of cards:
for artifact, instant and sorcery,
for land and creature.

can exile cards from opponent's library. Occasionally be able to cast those exiled cards.


can "damage" the library. Sultai secondary form of victory can win by depleting opponent's library, called milling. Such as popular archetype 
TurboFog and 
control sometimes win with dedicated milling cards.


can return stuff to the top of the library. Former
abilities that return permanents to library will be moved to these three colors. This change will bring 
closer together by sharing a common form of removal.
once had spells like Fallow Earth that put lands back to the library. When followed by milling, this combo can permanently deal with permanents.

can add counters of the same type onto permanents (proliferate).

can remove counters from permanents.


can move counters between permanents (steal counters).
can draw cards directly.
can draw cards with additional nonmana costs, like pay life and sacrifice a creature.
can draw cards via creatures, such as creature damage or per creature you control.
