I'd recommend a slight name change here: this sounds too similar to Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre. Something like "Ulamog, Devourer of All" or "Ulamog, the Eternal Devourer" would be fine.
Currently this seems a bit less splashy than either Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre or Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger. Gyre had annihilator 4 and Hunger got to exile two permanents (and won in a couple of attacks even if he was chump blocked). I don't think the
ability and wither quite feel as good as those.
"Ulamog, Inveterate Gimbler" "Ulamog, Permanent Cyclone"
:)
And
for the activated ability is way high.
Alex: Name changed. It needs Ulamog and Devourer but reusing Infinite was a mistake. I've tried change the ability to something splashy but coming up with an equivalent attack trigger (untap ability) is difficult. Have changed it to milling opponent equal to life total to make splashy, but maybe keeping the Traumatise and adding trample would work?
Link: Have lowered the cost
Haha, that is a fantastic text for the final ability. Immensely splashy. Almost leaves you feeling cheated when you realise it's not instant-win, but it's still "mill for 20" so it's still awesome.
Interestingly, this encourages you to focus on voidwarp, and avoid dealing any life-total damage to the opponent. I find that pleasing, but I'm not 100% sure whether it's good for deckbuilding.
Voidwarp seems to be a valid mill strategy. But I feel this set is going far enough to make it the ONLY strategy. Have you made any cards that deal normal damage?
Heh. I've been assuming that KeresAcheron is just designing the Eldrazi from their set first, and will design the Zendikari, or whoever are the natives of the plane being terrorised, later.
Fun fact: If you respond to the activated ability with something like Humble, Ovinize, or Turn to Frog, then suddenly the damage does go to their life total. All that power from just one little frog...
I am designing the Eldrazi card first. I do need to come up a consistent non-eldrazi faction to put in them in a world with (Return to Mirodin style). Any suggestions would be welcome. (Ravnica has already been done in fan set, as has Kamigawa). Possibilities besides an original world Lorwyn-Shadowmore (unlikely to be revisited), Alternative BFZ or Theros (Bestow+Auras work equally well in both factions decks.)
