I don't like it. It majorly lacks the "I have a plan" feeling of Planeswalkers, building toward a lethal ultimate, the -2 is something that can never be done twice and feels like a waste, while a planeswalker with that ultimate that can't pump out tokens on its own is a terrible idea.
The +2 is alright, though, since Ajani is strongly associated with life gain, though it needs to be "up to one" so it works even with no creatures.
