Deathrite Shaman in another enemy color pair

I like the first and second abilities, but the last one (the {u} one) seems utterly mad. Many decks could easily average drawing 2 or more cards off this, and it'd be possible to sculpt your deck to give you a good chance of drawing 5+. As a repeatable effect. OK, you're milling yourself too, but still. (Also, that level of self-mill in a near-creatureless deck strikes me as potentially dangerous too.)

I'll admit I'm not particularly happy with the design, if only because the overall card is really wordy, but the constrains of reproducing the shaman (i.e. with three effects using resources from the same place in an enemy color pair)made it very difficult, and I didn't want the thread it was made for to stagnate.

If by "Really wordy" you mean "I actually had to scroll my browser window to read the last bit" then yeah, just a bit.

Seriously, this has two abilities too many. And seems determined to cause you to dump your whole deck into your graveyard - which is unfortunately a game winning combo nowadays.

And why does blue care about creature power rather than green?

I think the three abilities should be merged. Something like: {g/u},{t}: Put the top card of your library into your graveyard. If it's an instant or a creature; draw a card. (That might actually still be too strong. A card a turn for one mana, as a 2-drop? Not sure what card drawing costs nowadays)

V: You're missing the point. He said he's aiming to reproduce (i.e. colourshift) Deathrite Shaman into another enemy-colour pair. So it has to include three activated abilities, with costs "{t}" / "A, {t}" / "B, {t}", all of which care about resources from the same location. That's undeniably a tough challenge.

Enough to prompt me to have a go myself: Ensorcelment Ritualist :)

Oh. Am I allowed to point out that the source card suffers all these problems and also ought to have a fix applied?

Still, caring about only the top card of your library would help shorten it; I'd go straight up for "Add matching mana" "Get if creature" "Get if instant" if I really had to do the three ability thing.

That is a lot simpler, and had I been a better designer, I might have thought of it myself ^_^ ;;
