Reminiscent of Lashknife Barrier, which also suggests this could be a bit cheaper.

Also, the name is unfortunately a bit too close to Serra's Blessing.

I could chance it to 1WW; and I guess a different name, how does "Serra's Sanction" sound?

Serra's Sanction is a good name.

I agree that this card is very weak. Comparisons to Lashknife Barrier or Lumithread Field are appropriate.

Comon guys, its homelands :P

not mirrodin :D

Are you saying you're aiming to design with a power level equivalent to the original Homelands's power level? I thought this set was just extending the flavour of Homelands.

it is flavor extending, yes. But I am kinda sick of power creep at the moment. It is not as weak as the original homelands set, but its not going to be overpowering to cards that are printed already. Maybe this card just needs to go though...

I got no problem with diminished power level sets. Expect people to complain often, though. It's just human nature that we forget these things. Alexander's set keeps receiving grousing comments about card X being 'too powerful for common'. He's mentioned multiple times that he's intentionally designing power-commons... but its hard for things like that to penetrate.

I would, however, think about making this card cost... maybe {w}{w}? I mean, even for 1997, this isn't that much better than Parapet.

You know what, since Parapet exists, I'm just going to go off that type of static boost instead.

I think that more befits the flavor of serra the character, giving a blessing to the good people of Homelands.

Oh, yes... that random flying bit definitely looks like it came right out out of Homelands. If the activation was {1}{u}, then this card would look like it belonged in Ice Age instead. I can dig it.

I don't think it is random, well not that random, but I just can't think of any other flavor to go in that is something else.

But yea...color X enchantments with color Y activation costs should go in Ice Age. lol

This has ended up as a quite interesting card now. It's a Castle that also lets your creatures fly over. I could see this being pretty powerful in Limited. Nice work.

(It might be simpler to template it as two abilities:

> Creatures you control get +0/+2.
> {1}{w}: Target creature you control gains flying UEOT.

)

I never knew that Builder's Blessing was a functional reprint until now. It and Castle are not very good cards, so there's definitely nothing wrong with printing a better version.
